\nThe area is located on the northeast side of the Tea House, and is bounded to the north by the Bangsbo River and to the east by the small stream that cuts through the park. The first planting of rhododendrons on the site was carried out when the first sod was turned for the Bangsbo Botanical Garden in 1990. For many years, rhododendrons had been planted in a round bed right at the place where the park's central path was to be restored, and since the plants were healthy and vigorous, it was decided to purchase sphagnum and place the plants under the large lime trees north of the Tea House. Here they began to thrive so well that there was a basis for expanding with more plants from the same genus.\n<\/p>

\nOther rhododendrons in the area have been carefully selected from private individuals who have wanted to help the Botanical Garden start creating a collection of these beautiful plants. Orla Pedersen in Hedensted has supplied most of them; J\u00f8rgen Corfitzen from Sor\u00f8 the not-so-common ones; the farm \u201cLille Bangsbo\u201d the largest ones, and finally members of the Circle of Friends have also contributed to the collection.\n<\/p>

\nPrimula of various species and varieties are used as interplanting, and cranesbills are a natural addition. Other plants that thrive in acidic soil include American blueberries, magnolias, pieris, Japanese maples and calla lilies. In addition, there are a wealth of white anemones in spring. Close to the Rhododendron Valley is the newly restored garden pavilion, also called the Tea House, where Holger Drachmann's daughter Eva sometimes spent time drawing. The Tea House is furnished so that you can sit and eat your food while enjoying the scent of Rhododendron luteum, also called the Golden Azalea.\n<\/p><\/div><\/main>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
