The Botanical Gardens
The landscape in the area with the Botanical Gardens offers a whole range of biotopes due to the slope, forest edge, watercourses, etc. Clarifying and developing these natural conditions is the cornerstone of the project for the actual Botanical Gardens.
Broadly speaking, the area is divided across several hedges, inviting guests to explore these many sub-areas. The aim is that the various plant collections on a large or small scale can create inspiration and interest in the diversity that the plant communities exhibit. For example, the large stone structures such as Spaltlebedet and the Norwegian Rock Wall are dramatic features and contain plants rarely found in gardens. Canals and lakes create life in several ways – both for plants, but also for insects and birds.
Artworks by local artists give the plant collections a different dimension, and provide the visitor with a holistic experience, which can be viewed in the company of the coffee they brought along at one of the many table/bench arrangements.
