Park facilities The park

Bangsbo Manor had its heyday around 1900, when Johan Knudsen owned the farm. The park, like the farm, was extremely well-kept with its large, mown lawns and round beds. But that style has by no means always prevailed on the farm – the different trends in horticulture of the time had also left their diverse mark on the manor's layout, and on the cadastral maps from 1812 onwards you can follow the changes that the owners of the farm thought were appropriate.

In 1892 Johan Knudsen became the owner of Bangsbo, and he carried out a thorough renovation of both the farm buildings and the park. The park was now kept in the English style with arched walkways and a stone mound at the southern edge of the forest, and to the north down towards Bangsbo å a small gazebo was placed, which is now called The-huset. Here in the park, 100 years ago, Herman Bang found peace from the outside world and inspiration for his works.

At the end of the 19th century, a garden was established east of the small stream. From here, the farm was supplied with fresh vegetables and other plants.

Today, the park's lines are largely the same as in Johan Knudsen's time, with the large mowed lawns and the round beds with, among others, rhododendron, magnolia, astilbe, hydrangea and clematis. Different varieties of daffodils have been planted in all the beds, as well as crocus, snowdrop, pearl hyacinth, etc. in certain areas of the lawns. However, the central axis of the park has been recreated as a natural extension of the linden avenue in the eastern part of the facility. The park in Bangsbo extends over a total area of 17,500 square meters, where two buildings are located, namely the Gardener's House and the Tea House. Both buildings were completely renovated in 1997 and 2001, respectively.
