Flower Festival 2023

Bangsbo Flower Festival Flower Festival 2023

The 26th Bangsbo Flower Festival was held in glorious festival weather with sun, blue skies and almost no wind. It was a bit dusty at times, but it was well received by the over 5,000 visitors who had found their way to the Botanical Garden.

This year, the steering committee had focused on creating a really good attraction for the festival, so an agreement had been made with one of the world's leading orchid specialists, Michael Tibbs, who had arranged an exhibition and sales department in an 80 m2 tent. It was an unconditional success – Michael Tibbs was a little shocked that sales were so fantastic. At the end of the festival, there were not many of the 400 orchids left, and those that were, Michael gave to Haven so that a penny could be earned from a subsequent sale.

But it wasn't just Michael Tibbs who was satisfied with the sales - many of the exhibitors expressed that there were really good sales, and a few even had to go home on Saturday with completely sold out items.

There was no shortage of musical entertainment, and in the good weather the audience sat for a long time at the music tent and got something to eat from the food vendors, who were very busy again this year. One person who was extraordinarily busy on both days was Keld Rye and Mrs., who entertained the children with fun activities, and it was quite clear after the cleanup to see how the grass had completely worn down around Keld Rye's pavilion.

An extraordinary event was also celebrated during the festival, as one of the steering group participants and board member of the Botanical Garden, Nicklas Nielsen, married his Helle in the Botanical Gardens area. And the seance was of course officiated by Mayor Birgit S. Hansen in the presence of family, friends and festival guests.

As a new initiative this year, a new closing time was set for the festival on Sunday, so that everyone could pack up at 3 pm instead of 5 pm, which has always been the closing time. The change was made partly at the request of the exhibitors who have a long way to go, but also because it has been observed that sales in the last two hours have never been completely optimal. This also gave rise to the extensive clean-up being finished around 6 pm – so there was a couple of extra hours of restitution before next year's Bangsbo Flower Festival.

Thank you for this year – and see you again in 2024
