With some apprehension, the weather forecast for the flower festival days was closely monitored, but as is well known, it was the 27th Bangsbo Flower Festival with glorious festival weather with sun, blue skies and almost no wind, and it was well received by the approximately 5,000 visitors who had found their way to the Botanical Garden.
As something new, an exhibition of carnivorous plants was set up in a large tent from the nursery Lammehave, owned by Niels Jørgen Petersen. It was Anne from Flora Flora in Elling who created the exhibition, which attracted many visitors – big and small. There were also carnivorous plants for sale in the Friends' stall, and they sold quite well.
Again this year Michael Tibbs was in place in a large tent with lots of orchids. Michael Tibbs is one of the world's leading orchid experts. With him to the Flower Festival in Frederikshavn, Michael Tibbs had a large selection of orchids, large and small, rare and the more common, and there was a queue at the sales counter in the tent from the start of the festival.
However, it was not only Michael Tibbs who was satisfied with the sales – the other exhibitors expressed great satisfaction with the sales – all of course favored by the good weather.
There was no shortage of musical entertainment, and in the good weather the audience sat for a long time at the music tent and got something to eat from the food vendors, who were really busy again this year. On Saturday, you could also watch the well-heeled boot competition with the participation of well-known Frederikshavn residents - here municipal director Thomas Eriksen won overwhelmingly.
Many also took the opportunity to enjoy the scenic surroundings in and around Bangsbo Botanical Garden, which houses many collections of exciting plants.
The extensive cleanup was completed around 7 pm, with the help of members from the Strandby/Elling Sports Association.
Thank you for this year – and see you again in 2025 – on May 31 and June 1.
